The Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) has recently published the third volume of Shaping the Future, as part of its ongoing and comprehensive research programme. This year’s report includes an in depth review of the retail ‘journey’ of outdoor consumers, exploring what influences them, when, why and how they shop, and what they buy. Shaping the Future III also explores the role of outdoor centres and activity holiday providers, highlighting the significant challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for companies and destinations operating in that part of the outdoor sector. Log in to download this report in member resources. Free for OIA members and available to purchase for non-OIA members (£399+VAT).
The OIA has also produced a companion supplement for the series of Shaping the Future reports. Tracking the Customer Journey is designed to help association members interpret Shaping the Future research data and use it more effectively to make well informed business decisions within an increasingly competitive market. Available in Our Research.
The OIA has just completed a major project with Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), exploring the proliferation of web 2.0 platforms and establishing how the association and its members can most effectively use them in a business context. The LUMS team liaised with OIA members and consulted a wide range of individuals and businesses with an already strong working knowledge of web 2.0. The report provides practical, manageable advice to members on how best to use social media as business tools. Log in to download this report in member resources.
