The OIA’s main objectives are to raise training standards and get parity across the outdoor industry; promote retail as a more aspirational and rewarding career path; look at how to get more people into the outdoor sectors, in this case the retail sector specifically.
The Working Group for this will therefore be tasked with:
- Identifying the objectives and outcome
- Identifying the key issues and challenges
- in retail in general
- in retail within the outdoor industry
- Approach and framework of a qualification scheme
- Funding and parameters within which funding can be accessed
- Delivery of the scheme
- Promotion and marketing to stakeholders: retailers, employees and consumers.
First meeting is being held 12th October 2009.

The OIA Lobbying and Legislation Group will be working on behalf on the outdoor industries to lead, inform and provide a single, strong and influential voice.
