We have over 120 members offering a range of services.
Following a unanimous acceptance vote from members at the Outdoor industries Association (OIA) AGM in Harrogate this week, Jackie Bryson has been confirmed as the latest member to join the OIA Board.
Jackie Bryson is the CEO of the Mountain Training Trust and Plas y Brenin, Sport England’s national centre for mountain sports in Snowdonia. She is also a board member of SportNI, the public body responsible for the development of sport in Northern Ireland.
Jackie was previously Strategic Lead for Strategy at Sport England, with involvement in the development of their 'Towards an Active Nation' strategy. She brings a range of governance experience, with membership of a range of boards over a 15 year period.
OIA Chief Executive Andrew Denton comments: “Jackie brings a new skill set to the OIA board and extensive experience in parts of the Outdoor sector where we are yet to establish the OIA. Looking beyond the very obvious connection as CEO of the Mountain Training Trust and Plas y Brenin, her experience as Strategic Lead at Sport England, and CEO at Sport Cheshire will really help broaden our experience and contact base. We are delighted she has agreed to join us and look forward to learning from her and working together. ”
Commenting on her appointment to the OIA Board, Jackie comments: “I’m really excited to be joining the board of the OIA as there’s never been a more exciting time for the outdoor industry. The potential for our sector is immense and anything we can do to get more people active in the outdoors more often has got to be a good thing. Not only is great fun but there’s a growing consensus of the wider benefits it brings. The OIA has a key part to play in this and so I’m delighted to be joining the board and making a contribution to their work”.
Jackie replaces YHA CEO Caroline White, who has stepped down from the OIA board due to her forthcoming retirement from the YHA. Other changes to the board include Joanne Black (Craghoppers / Regatta) replacing Anthony Greasby (Countryside Ski & Climb) as Vice Chairperson, following the completion of his term in this position.
